HE
SAID, 'PREACH THE GOSPEL'
By Pastor
Max Solbrekken, D.D.
'Here we are in THY
presence, Lifting holy hands to You: Here we are Praising JESUS for
all the things He's brought us through'. I don't have the words to
tell You how I feel. I just don't know what I can say, I'm not worthy
to speak Your name, Yet You tell me You love me just the same.”

“Therefore
being justified by FAITH
we have PEACE
with God through our Lord Jesus Christ; By Whom we have access by
faith into this GRACE
wherein we stand, and rejoice in HOPE
of the glory of God. (Romans 5: 1,2)
Preparing
to visit a sick individual, I prayed: “Lord
what shall I tell this young lady?”
He sweetly answered: “Give her
the Gospel!” There
is no substitute for God's Word. The Bible says: “For the Word of
God is quick (alive) and powerful and sharper than any two-edged
sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul
and spirit,
and of the joints
and marrow,
and is a discerner of the thoughts
and intents of the heart.”
(Heb.4: 12)
The
Word of God brings DIVINE HEALING to our soul and spirit as well as
our flesh; conviction, peace and forgiveness for sin, and healing
from sickness and disease in our body (joints
& marrow).
King David said: “He
sent His Word, and healed them, and delivered them from their
destructions.”
(Psalm 107: 20)
Again,
the Word of God states: “Let
them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine
heat. For they (God's
Word)
are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.”
(Proverbs 4: 21)
The
Bile says: “Bless the Lord O my soul: And all that is within me,
bless His holy Name. Bless the Lord O my soul and forget NOT all His
benefits: Who
forgiveth all thine iniquities; Who healeth all thy diseases; Who
redeemeth thy life from destruction..”
(Psalm 103: 1-4).
HIS
GOSPEL WORKS AT A FUNERAL!
Recently, I was asked
to take the Funeral Service for an elderly man who was very respected
in a small Alberta town. A near relative said: “Pastor
Max, preach the Gospel. There will be people there who need to hear
the clear presentation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.”
At
the close of the service, a goodly number, including several
Ministers, told me how grateful they were that I had delivered the
life Living Word of God!
A
number of years ago I was asked to preach the funeral message where
nearly half of the community had gathered to pay their last respects
to a young man who had died all too early. His father, a Minister
said, “Brother Max,
preach the Gospel”,
and I did.
Afterwards, that Pastor received numerous calls asking
why they didn't hear that kind of preaching in their own churches!
People everywhere are
hungering for something, without knowing what it is. And when they
hear the Gospel of Christ they immediately recognize that they have
found what they have longing for. The Word of God is the Bread of
Life which satisfies the heart hunger for our Creator and God. Jesus
Christ is the Living Bread sent down from Heaven and the Holy Bible
is the written Word of God!
Our
Saviour stated, “I
am the Bread of Life; he that cometh to Me shall never hunger; and he
that believeth on Me shall never thirst.”
(John 6:35).
At Christ the Healer Gospel Church, Saskatoon we have
some very anointed singers and musicians. Tom
and Brenda Sibley
often sing, You're
my Best Friend.
The
chorus goes like this: 'You're
my BREAD when I'm hungry; You're my SHELTER from troubled winds,
You're my ANCHOR in Life's Ocean, but most of all You're my Best
Friend'.
THE
GOSPEL: THAT WILL SOLVE EVERYTHING!
William Gladstone, Statesman,
Prime Minister and unquestionably one of Great Britain's most able,
and greatest legal minds in the 1800s stated:
“Talk about the
questions of the day! There is but one question and that is the
Gospel. That can and will correct everything. I am glad to say that
about all the men at the top in Great Britain are Christians. I have
been in public positions fifty-eight years, all but eleven of them in
the Cabinet of the British Government, and during those forty-seven
years have been associated with sixty of the master minds of the
century, and all but five of the sixty were Christians.”
WOW.!!!
What a statement coming from the Greatest British Prime Minister who
ever lived! It is little wonder then that Queen Victoria stated: “I
could wish that Jesus Christ would return in my lifetime.”
When she was asked, “Why?” she answered: “I
would so love to lay my crown at His feet.”
QUEEN
VICTORIA'S TESTIMONY!
Queen
Victoria once attended a service in St. Paul's Cathedral and listened
to a sermon that interested her greatly. Afterwards she asked her
chaplain, “Can one
be absolutely sure in this life of eternal safety?”
His answer was that he knew no way that one could be absolutely sure.
This
incident was published in the Court
News
and came to the notice of a humble Minister of the Gospel, John
Townsend. After reading of Queen Victoria's question and the answer
she received, he prayed much about the matter and then sent the
following note to the Queen.
“To her gracious
Majesty our beloved Queen Victoria from one of her most humble
subjects. With trembling hands, but heart-filled love, and because I
know that we can be absolutely sure now for our eternal life in the
Home that Jesus went to prepare, may I ask Your Most Gracious Majesty
to read the following passages of Scripture - John 3:16; Romans 10:
9, 10.”
“I sign myself, Your servant for
Jesus' sake,”
John Townsend
John Townsend was not alone
in praying about his letter to the Queen. He took others into his
confidence and much prayer was offered up to God on Her Majesty's
behalf. About two weeks later,
he received a modest-looking
envelope in which was enclosed the following letter.
To
John Townsend:
“Your letter of
recent date received and in reply would state that I have carefully
and prayerfully read the portions of Scripture referred to. I believe
in the finished work of Christ for me, and trust by God's grace to
meet you in that Home of which He said, I go to prepare a place for
you.”

WHAT
A LEGACY QUEEN VICTORIA LEFT!
Some
years later the Queen was visiting the tenants on one of her Royal
Estates and an elderly lady nervously came up to her, curtseyed, and
said, trembling, “Your
Majesty, will I see you in Heaven, one day?”
Victoria smiled and replied, “By
the all-availing blood of Jesus, you most certainly shall, my dear! I
have His Word on it!”
After
Queen Victoria discovered the Good News of Eternal Life through the
shed blood of Jesus Christ, she eventually carried copies of a small
booklet to give to her subjects. It was titled 'Safety,
Certainty and Enjoyment'
and it contained the message of Salvation through Jesus Christ our
Lord!
Queen
Victoria reigned over the great British Empire for nearly 64 years
until her death on January 22, 1901. She was laid to rest beside
Prince
Albert at
the Frogmore
Royal Mausoleum
at Windsor. Above the door of the Mausoleum are inscribed the
following words from Victoria: “Farewell
best friend, here at last I shall rest with thee, with thee in
Christ, I shall rise again.”
My question to you reading this blog is: "Are you ready to meet your Maker?" After President Ronald Reagan narrowly escaped death at the hands of a deranged gunman, his pastor asked him: "Mr. President were you ready to die?" Ronald Reagan replied, "Oh no, I have much work to do!"
His pastor pressed him, "I meant, were you ready to meet God?" The president smiled and answered: "Yes!" His pastor asked him, "Why?" President Ronald Reagan answered, "I have a Saviour!"
My friend, you too can have a Saviour. Please pray the following prayer in sincerity and faith in your heart to the Lord.
"Almighty Eternal God and Heavenly Father, I approach Thy throne of Mercy and Grace in the name of Thy Son Jesus Christ,
Who died for me on that old rugged cross so many years ago. I humbly ask for Your help. I cannot save myself. Please forgive all my sins, cleanse me in Jesus' precious blood and make me Thy child. Come into my heart Lord Jesus. I now renounce the devil and all his works and all his ways and I confess that Jesus Christ is the Son of the Living God and the Only Saviour of the world. By faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His glorious resurrection from the dead, I receive Him now as my personal Lord and Saviour, for time and eternity! In Jesus' name, Amen.
If you prayed that prayer in repentance and faith, your sins are forgiven according to the Word of God, which states: "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." (Romans 10:9,10) Amen.

LIKE PRESIDENT REAGAN
YOU CAN ALSO HAVE A SAVIOUR!
