CANADA TURN AROUND:
COME BACK TO GOD

On a Sunday morning in February 1977, I awakened with a stirring message burning in my spirit. The Holy Spirit had been speaking to me while I was still sleeping and the words, 'Canada Turn Around' were on my lips.
In an instant, the voice of God came to me saying, "Son, bring a message to the nation of Canada". He instructed me to spread the message by television, radio and printed page. I was to call the message 'Canada Turn Around -Come Back to God', and it was a special message from the Lord to all Canadians.
There was an urgency in my spirit as I thought about the other times God had spoken to me to bring a message to our nation. I had sensed that urgency ever since I answered His call to leave my lucrative job in 1963, to enter the Gospel Ministry.
In early 1964, we purchased an old Army tent, truck and trailer for $2,000. Brother Casperson, a Norwegian Fisherman heard about the tent and gave us the cash to buy it. It was a blessing because I had left an excellent job and had gone on a $50 a month salary.
We already owned our home and automobile. We lived very frugally and Donna was an excellent money manager, so we did alright. That year, I preached in the Big Gospel Tent, in churches and auditoriums. Our radio ministry was carried across the nation and we launched Canada's Revival Magazine, the Cry of His Coming!

In
1965
we had an amazing tent meeting in Steinbach,
Manitoba.
During our 5 week tent crusade in Winnipeg, Rev.
Samuel Bilsky,
came to see me. He was empoyed by a Mennonite Church in Steinbach as
a missionary to Ukrainian Catholics. He stated that they did not
believe in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit or Divine Healing, but that
he did. When he heard me preach and saw God's miracles, he was
convinced that I should bring our tent to Steinbach.
The
Mayor permitted us to conduct the Crusade on his land at the corner
where two highways crossed, two miles south of the city. Samuel
Bilsky
knew that his position with the Mennonites would be terminated, but
he must obey the Holy Spirit. The Caroline
Newspaper
interviewed me and carried a lengthy article about our ministry.
There was a
Pentecostal Church
in
Steinbach with only two families, but they were divided on whether to
back our crusade or not, so we had to count entirely on the Holy
Spirit!

night before the Crusade, I spoke on 'The Purpose
of the Church and the Duty of Soul Winning' at
the Sprague Full
Gospel Church,
where Hjordis
Simonsen
was the Pastor. Peter
and Dorothy Enns
were in that meeting and were deeply moved by my message. Peter was
the evangelist for the Mennonites and had been sent by their Church
to monitor our service. He declared, “Brother
Max, what you have is what we need.”
We
began the Crusade Sunday afternoon with Sam Bilsky and Peter
Enns solidly behind the crusade. We saw two glorious weeks of
God's amazing grace extended to the community. About midnight on the
last Saturday night, a severe storm destroyed our old Army tent. On
Sunday morning we removed the wrecked canvas and set up our folding
plywood benches and PA system for an open air service.
There
was a general rain across Manitoba and with clouds hanging over the
site, we know that it would strike us again. Counting those on the
grounds and all those parked along both highways, it was estimated
that many thousands witnessed a great miracle that day!
I'm
referring to the sun bursting forth and shining all afternoon for a
ten mile radius around the crusade grounds. It rained all over
Manitoba except where we were. Our plan was to hold a brief service
and close the Crusade before the rain fell. As I was about to open
the meeting, I heard a voice saying, “It is not going to rain
here this afternoon.” I turned to see who had spoken to me.
There was no one trying to get my attention.
I
prayed, “Lord, is it You?” He said, “It's
not going to rain here this afternoon.” I asked, “What
shall I do?” He said, “Get Sam Biksky to testify.
He is long winded.” When I made the announcement,
Pastor Jake Toews said, “What are you doing? We are
all going to get soaked. Don't you know, he is long winded.” I
smiled and said, “It will be alright”. Then,
the Lord said, “Get Sister Simonsen to testify.”
When, I announced Sister Simonsen, Pastor Jake said, “The
rain is about to fall. We will all get soaked.”
I
smiled again. Then, I asked everyone to rise for the reading of the
Holy Scriptures. I felt an amazing faith rise up within me as I read
and prayed. Then, I stetched out my hands in Jesus' name with these
words, “And now, upon the authority of God's Word according
to Thy promise, O Lord, I command the clouds to leave and the sun to
shine. In Jesus' name. Amen.”
Immediately,
the clouds parted and the sun broke through. Everyone gasped in
amazement and began to praise God. The service went on for several
hours with great success! Until this day, there are old timers in
Steinbach who speak about that crusade and the miracle of the sun
breaking through at the very moment I spoke Jesus' Name! Glory be to
God forever!
The
Full Gospel Church was founded with 89 persons in the
basement of the Lutheran Church, under the direction of Sam
Bilsky and Peter Enns. We paid Samuel Bilsky's salary for several
years and helped with other expenses. Pastor Jake Toews
from Winnipeg helped, and then Pastor Glen Forsberg
from Alberta was called and the work grew exponentially. Today,
there are several thousand people in Steinbach who are filled with
the Holy Spirit, speaking in tongues glorifying God!
WHAT
HAPPENED IN STEINBACH?
What happened in
Mennonite Steinbach is exactly what happened in Jerusalem through the
ministry of Jesus of Nazareth: “Now when He was in Jerusalem at the
Passover, in the feast day, many
believed in His name, when
they saw the Miracles which He did.”
(John 2:23).
The
same thing happened in Galilee: “And
a great multitude followed Him, because they saw His Miracles which
He did on them that were diseased.” (John
6: 2). The ministries of the disciples and apostles of Christ
produced the same results for them, when they did the same works that
He did.
Here
is the testimony of an Early Church Deacon: “Then
Philip went down to the city of Samaria,and preached Christ unto
them. And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things
which Philip spake hearing and seeing the MIRACLES which he did.
"For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them; and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed. And there was great joy in that city.” (Acts 8: 5-8)

During a 1965 crusade in Calgary, Alberta, the Holy Spirit called me into world evangelism. We were in the Jubilee Auditorium, but I was invited by Pastor Phil and Mildred Tretwell to minister in their church on Sunday morning.
Through the Holy Spirit, Mildred gave two divine utterances in tongues and interpretations. My spirit was so stirred that I fell to my knees weeping, unaware that the entire congregation was similarly affected.
The message said that there were multitudes across the sea who were lost, and unless someone took the Gospel to them they would be eternally damned. And since the message was repeated and enlarged upon, it made an enormous impact on me.
I earnestly prayed that the Lord would send someone to them with the message of Jesus Christ. Suddenly, I heard the voice of God.
It seemed to come from a wide expanse and narrowed until it entered my belly area. The voice said, "Son, I am changing your ministry." I said, "That is good. Anything You do for me will be good." Then, He said: "I send you to the Heathen."
I was shaken and answered: "But how, where and when?" He assured me that He would be with me and not to be afraid or concerned! Immediately, Lester Sumrall's name came into my mind. He opened the door for me in Hong Kong and the Philippines.
Simultaneously, I received a letter from Lawson Barbour, a Canadian missionary to India inviting me for a crusade! And in February 1966, Thomas Tutyko and I embarked on a 3 1/2 month World Crusade across Asia, Philippines and India, ending in Jerusalem.
Thousands of heathen were converted to Christ and hundreds of healing miracles occurred, as Jesus took control. Some notable miracles were documented by medical doctors, who even brought their patients to the crusades.
At Bethel Temple (Cathedral of Praise) in Manila, we experienced God's power for 26 days, climaxing with several days in Plaza Miranda. Eleven hundred souls were saved as God bared his arm.
Josephine Gadula brought her seven-year-old son Sal Marisigan to the crusade. He was a polio victim with one leg 12 to 15 inches shorter than the other.
By a miracle of God, his leg grew to the normal length. One hundred members of his extended family converted to Christ and joined Bethel Temple. And Sal's uncle Conrad Gadula was later called into the Ministry in New York!
In our 1966 Guntur India crusade, Jesus blessed us in a spectacular way among the large Hindu population. I was laying my hands on up to 3,000 persons every evening. Dr. Serala Elisha of the Kugler Lutheran Hospital enquired if I had prayed for a 13 year old boy with only one eye.
I answered that I had prayed for a boy with a major infection in an open eye cavity. She stated that the infection was gone and a new eye ball was growing in the cavity and the boy had 20-20 vision in that eye.
On the final day of the crusade, Dr. Serala Elisha brought the boy to the podium and before ca. 20,000 people, gave the glory to Jesus Christ. His eye at that time was half size and still growing. Praise God forever!

The first time God gave me a message for our nation was in 1967. I delivered a powerful Centennial message by radio titled, 'A Salute to Canada.' This message stirred a lot of Canadians and people world-wide. It also brought a personal greeting and thanks from our Justice Minister, the Honorable Pierre Elliott Trudeau.
I stated that Canada was a land of Peace, Plenty and Prosperity. I gave credit to the hard working immigrants who built the country and our Armed Forces who fought to keep us free. I warned, however, that to retain God's blessings as a nation we must return to Christ and His Gospel.

We sent a cassette and copy of the message to Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson, the Right Honourable John G. Diefenbaker (Canada's honest P.M.), Queen Elizabeth 11, all Federal Members of Parliament, all Members of the Provincial Legislatures and Mayors of Canada's major cities!
In 1968, God gave us great Revivals in Trinidad and other West Indies Islands with large crowds, thousands converted and great miracles of healing.
Our crusades in Norway lasted for 3 1/2 months. I preached in all the Pentecostal Conferences from North to South. Ministering in Hammerfest, the world's most northern town was exciting, as were our meetings among the Lapp population!
Brita Gloppen's healing was carried on the front page of the Bergen and Oslo newspapers. For 10 years she had worn a steel corset and used a wheelchair for 8 years due to deteriorated spinal discs. She had heart disease as well as a brain concussion from falling. Pastor Roald Andersen stated: "I have waited 40 years to see such a miracle."
NEWFOUNDLAND ON FIRE!
Our 1967 and 1968 Revival and Conference Meetings with the P.A.O.N. ignited an old fashioned revival of repentance and faith as our Lord Jesus was lifted up. Hundreds were touched by the Holy Spirit and thousands blessed. Many great miracles occurred as the Holy Spirit fell upon us for a number of weeks.
Geraldine Rideout was 16 years old, two and one-half feet tall and weighed 25 pounds. She was born with Osteo Genesis Imperfecta, a very rare and deadly disease. Her bones were like egg shells and constantly broke when she was turned in the crib. Medical doctors said that she would probably die within a year or so.
Before a crowd of several thousand at the F.G. Bursey Memorial Tabernacle, seven miles from Lewisporte, I had the privilege of praying for Geraldine. She stood for the first time and her bones did not break. She was healed!
At 21 years of age she started school in grade one and graduated eleven years later. For ca. 17 years she travelled across Newfoundland singing the Gospel and testifying about Jesus her Healer, in various crusades.
She and her mother travelled with me to various cities in Canada and to Europe. She grew twelve inches taller after her miracle and at the age of 48 she got married. Hundreds of medical doctors saw her at a medical conference and her testimony was carried by CBC TV across the nation. To God be the glory great things He has done and is still doing!
On October 26, 1969 we founded the Edmonton Revival Centre (later renamed Faith Cathedral) where we saw thousands of souls blessed; born again, healed, filled the Holy Spirit's Fire and Power. Twenty-two years later on October 26, 1991, we amalgamated with People's Church, releasing me to preach all across Eastern Europe until 1995.

In 1972 I was given a word from God, to deliver a hard hitting message by radio and printed page called, 'My Message to Prime Minister Trudeau'.
I warned World Leaders to turn to God for direction and help. I gave Biblical examples of God's judgment on King Belshazzar, King Herod and others who became proud and egotistical and worshipped pagan gods.
In contrast, I quoted the humility and holy reverence King David had for our Lord and the blessings he received from Jehovah! He stated: "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord..." (Psalm 33: 12)
And, King Solomon stated: "Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people." (Prov.14: 34); "When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule the people mourn." (Prov.29: 2)
That Message was sent to all Canadian M.P.s and Provincial M.LA.s. We sent the cassette and magazine to United States President Richard Nixon, Prime Minister Edward Heath of Great Britain, Russia's Leonid Brezhnev, Queen Elizabeth 11, the Pope of Rome, Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. Oral Roberts and Dr. Billy Graham.
I received a lot of mail thanking us for that very direct and stirring prophetic message. We were shocked by a letter from the office of the British Prime Minister, Edward Heath, saying that they could not receive the cassette and magazine. The materials were returned with his letter!
Margaret Graham, our Office Manager asked, "Shall we respond?" I answered, "Not at this time."
Time passed and P.M. Edward Heath called a snap election to be held on March 4, 1974 believing he could win a majority Conservative Government.
Hearing the news, I went to God in prayer about the matter an He spoke to my heart to write another letter to the Prime Minister. I called Margaret Graham into my office and gave her this letter:

Dear Mr. Prime Minister,
Some time ago I sent you a letter with a copy of my sermon, 'My message to Prime Minister Trudeau' which you returned saying that you could not receive it. That sermon contained a warning for world leaders to refrain from unrighteousness and to put their trust in Almighty God and His Son, Jesus Christ. I detailed the Lord's dealings with King David whom He blesssed, as well as King Belzhassar, King Herod and others whom He judged severely.
Mr. Heath, that message was given to me by God, yet you rejected it. You were the only World Leader to do so. If you do not write me regarding this, I declare that you will not win the election. And furthermore, you will lose and go into obscurity politically.

I was preaching in a large crusade at Woodford Square in Trinidad in 1974. The morning following the British Election, I was asked to speak to the student body at the West Indian School of Theology.
Rev. Dennis White was the President of the College and after my lecture he was driving me to where I was staying. We were close to a little kiosk and I asked Dennis to stop so I could get a newspaper. He asked me why I wanted a newspaper. I answered that I wanted to see how badly Edward Heath had lost the election.
Dennis said, "How badly he has lost. Everyone expects him to win big." The newspaper screamed, 'CLIFF HANGER. IT'S A TIE." I said, "Dennis, tomorrow the headline will be, "Prime Minister Edward Heath Has Lost the Election!"
And just like God told me, Edward Heath went into obscurity politically! I was so sure that God had spoken to me that I had told people privately and publicly that if Edward Heath did not lose the election, I would leave the Ministry!

CANADA - ITS TIME TO COME BACK!
For many years, I have immersed myself in the words of Jesus Christ regarding God's coming Judgment on all ungodliness, as well as His message of grace and mercy toward all who repent of their sins and return to Him.
My heart is still aflame with God's love and compassion with a burden for those who are still in heathen darkness, perversion and deception. And for those who are lost, both in the Church and the world.

God's Word is crystal clear. God hates our sin, but Loves us! We cannot judge His Word but His Word judges us. We cannot expect God to change His Word to please us. We must change to please Him!
The Bible says, "For the Word of God is quick and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." (Hebrews 4:12)

And by God's grace I continue preaching the message "Canada - Turn Around" to multitudes across the nation of Canada and around the world - personalizing it for those countries - with great blessing. May God grant us great revivals during this precarious and perilous time in our history! All glory to His name.

The definition of 'Repent' from the Mirrion-Webster: to feel or show that you are sorry for something bad or wrong that you did and that you want to do what is right to turn from sin and dedicate oneself to the amendment of one's life. To feel regret or contrition / to change one's mind.
Softly and tenderly - Jesus is calling It is time to answer the call of Jesus. Christ is calling you, my friend, to repent! Christ is calling the world to turn away from sin, Satan and rebellion and to turn to Him, our Saviour and Creator.

We have turned our backs on God and have become self-centered, selfish and spiritually dead. During the past 40 years our nation and the world has taken a nose dive, and taken a major turn away from God.
Many Canadians are despondent, with no real good in sight. Unhappy, fearful and depressed people are the norm these days, without hope for the future. To say we are living in a very dangerous and frightening time is an understatement.

We need to get serious about the consequences of rejecting God. A divine call however, has gone out to our Nation and the world to repent.
Now is the time to turn around, to repent to God and with faith in Christ Jesus forsake our sin. We must repent of our sins, surrender our wills to God and give up the futile effort of "doing things our own way."

It's time for Canada to turn back from our rebellious ways through repentance and confessing to Christ our sins of unbelief, pride, immorality, jealousy, envy and prejudice.

It's time to come home to our Heavenly Father and be reconciled through Jesus Christ our Lord. To accept the invitation of our Saviour to talk things over, to straighten out past failures and right wrongs. We need to receive total forgiveness and assurance, with new direction for the future.

The divine call of God does not differentiate between rich or poor, educated or illiterate, men or women, young or old. There is no class distinction or favoritism due to race, color, nationality or culture with the Almighty.
All may approach the throne of God and repent of their sins! The invitation of salvation is available to all. Every person alive, regardless of their background or status in life may approach the throne of God and repent of their sins.

God wants you. He is waiting for you. He wants to recieve you unto Himself. He has the power to free you and make you His very own.
Our Savior is waiting for you to turn to him, to submit yourself, ask for forgiveness and be cleansed in the Blood of the Lamb. The good news is that God wants us. He wants you and me. No exceptions, and no questions asked. We come just as we are. He knows all about us and yet He wants us, even though we are sinners. WHY? He is a specialist in the field of cleansing, reconciliation and re-birth.

WHAT DOES REPENTANCE MEAN?
To repent means to turn, to change course! Repentance is godly sorrow for sin. It means being sorry enough to stop committing sin and to change your life.
After St. Paul’s letter reached the Corinthian Church, they were sorry for their sins and repented, changing their evil ways.
He writes: "Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing. For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation..." (2 Corinthians 7:9-10)

Repentance is forsaking evil. To repent is a change of life-style and thinking! Repentance is a complete forsaking of evil, unrighteousness of the world, the flesh and the devil. When you repent you are changing, turning around.

In his Mars Hill sermons, St. Paul shared with pagan Greek intellectuals the Gospel of Jesus Christ and His glorious resurrection from the dead.

TWO JUDGMENT SEATS!
Don’t let anyone deceive you, my friend, there is going to be a 'Great Day of Judgment’' when all of us will stand before Almighty God to give an account of our lives. We are living in the end Times, the second coming of Jesus and rapture of the Church is near.
The First Judgment is the 'Great White Throne Judgment'. The Second is the Behma Seat Judgment for Believers in Christ!
There will be two judgments: the first judgment is called, "The Great White Throne Judgment' where all sinners and unjust persons shall be judged in relation to their acceptance or rejection of Jesus Christ the Jewish Messiah.
Here is Christ Jesus' solemn warning: "And I saw a great white throne, and Him that sat on it, from Whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
"And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works."

The second one is called the Bhema Seat Judgment of the Saints. That is where all believers who have trusted in Jesus Christ as personal Savior will be judged for our works.
St. Paul warns: "For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay stubble; Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is."
"If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire." (1 Corinthians. 3:8)
In his defense before King Agrippa, the great Apostle rehearsed his Damascus Road conversion experience, and the words of Jesus Christ to him:
"Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee, To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in Me." (Acts 26:17-18)
THE CALL TO REPENT IS URGENT!
So urgent is the call for people to repent of their sins, the Bible says: "Knowing the terror of the Lord, we persuade men." (2 Corinthians 5:11) The Bible specifically declares: "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God". (Rom. 3:23)
Sin must be paid for unless it is repented of. The Bible states: "The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6:23)
St. Paul wrote to the Church in Rome concerning those committing sinful acts and others who condemn them, being guilty of the same sins.
"But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things. And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?
"But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the Day of Wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;"

GOD'S GOODNESS & PATIENCE
CAUSES US TO TURN TO HIM!
Jesus said, "Behold, I come quickly" - literal Greek: Without delay, at once, soon. (Revelation 22:12). St. Peter gave two reasons why Jesus had not yet returned:
One thousand years with us is like one day with the Lord! God's mercy is reaching out for more sinners to be saved.
"But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
"The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." (2 Peter 3:8-9)

And Jesus says, "As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear My voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with Me." (Revelation 3:19-20)
