HEALING FLOWS FROM GOD’S WORD         By Pastor Max Solbrekken, D.D.

My son, forget not My law, but let thine heart keep My commandments: For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to you.” (Proverbs 3:1)

An old Jewish proverb said: “Read the ninety-first psalm seven times a day and you will not be sick.” That is good advice. There is life and strength in God’s Word because Jesus Christ is the living Word of God.

St. John states: “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him; and without Him was not anything made that was made.

In Him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” (John 1: 1-4,14)

Logos is the word St. John used to identify Jesus of Nazareth. It is the Greek word for ‘Word’ and used again of the glorified Christ: “And He was clothed with a vesture dipped in Blood: and His Name is called the Word of God.” (Rev. 19:13)

JESUS IS THE WORD OF GOD!

Irenaeus of Lyon (130- 202), a student of Polycarp, who was a student of St. John wrote: “The disciple of the Lord therefore desiring to put an end to such doctrines, and to establish the rule of truth in the church, that there is One Almighty God, who made all things by His Word, both visible and invisible, showing at the same time, that the Word through whom God made the creation…”

According to Irenaeus, St. John wrote these words to refute the teachings of Cerinthus. It is believed that St. Paul also wrote Galatians refuting Cerinthus' followers. In Asia, early Christian writers identify Cerinthus as an adversary of the Apostle John.

The Holy Bible is the written Word of God which came from the mouth of God through the holy prophets and Christ Himself.

Jesus said, “It is the spirit that quickeneth, the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are Spirit and Life.” (John 6: 63).

The Bible states: “… For the prophecy came not by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” (2 Peter 1: 20, 21)

St. Paul stated: “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” (2 Tim. 3: 16,17)

THE PROPHETS WERE AMAZED!

The Holy Scripture says: “Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls, of which salvation the Prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:

Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.

Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the Gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from Heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.”

St. Peter reported how the prophets were greatly amazed about the grace of God and the workings of the Holy Spirit that was to come upon the New Testament church, as were also angels!

He writes about drinking, “the sincere milk of the Word” and “tasting that the Lord is gracious.”

Jesus Christ is characterized as “a Living Stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God and precious.” (1 Peter 1: 9-12, 18,19; 2:4-6)

NO EVIL SHALL BEFALL US!

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my Refuge and my Fortress: my God in Him will I trust.

There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh unto thy dwelling. Because He hath set His love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known My Name.

He shall call upon Me and I will answer: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him and show him My salvation.” (Ps. 91: 1,2 10,14-16)

We must ask ourselves the question, Do we really understand the greatness of that statement? No Evil shall befall thee and No plague shall come unto thy house!

If we are able to process that great truth it will change our belief system. When we realize that the One who made that promise is the One who has created us and is the Giver of Life! And He has the power to heal us!

Especially, at this time when the coronavirus is sweeping the world, we must pray diligently to our Heavenly Father in Jesus’ Name, believing that He will answer our prayers.

It is impossible for God to change, lie, fail or make a mistake. He is the same yesterday and forever. (Heb. 13: 8). He said, “I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.” (Mal. 3:8)

The Holy Bible says, “Wherein God, willing more abundantly to show unto the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel confirmed it by an oath;

That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us.” (Heb. 2:17-18)

Looking for that Blessed Hope, and the glorious appearing of the Great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto Himself a peculiar people, (distinctively excellent, valuable and honorable), zealous of good works.” (Titus 2: 13,14)

CONFIDENCE IN GOD’S WORD!

Regarding Hebrews 10: 35, 36, Dr. Charles S. Price wrote: “I would remind you that nothing in the world is more sure than the promises of God.

He not only said it, but He wanted to emphasize it so that in human hearts and minds that He swore to His declaration and gave us His Word of honour as our God that never fail. We must have confidence in His Word and in His promises.

Our whole system of salvation is predicated on our acceptance of that truth. It is when we believe His Word that the pardon is written on hearts. It is the foundation of all faith and the basis of all truth.

Man can be false to his God and untrue to His promise, but God never. No human power can overthrow the integrity of the Word of our Lord.

Man can never blitzkrieg the Rock of Ages. Unless we have a conviction that the Word of God is true, then it is impossible for us to develop for spiritually or to grow in grace as He wants us to do.

To what base depths have these modernists gone in denying the integrity and inspiration of the inspired Word, in putting doubts into the minds of people who come to them for leadership but have made it impossible for them to receive from God the blessing He wants to bestow.

For, I repeat, the whole system of salvation and of growth in grace is predicated on our unfaltering, and unswerving faith in the Word of God. May God give us that as a sure foundation.”

GOD’S WORD & LONG LIFE!

An old Gospel chorus says it all: 'If Jesus said it I believe it, His Word cannot lie. If it's written in Bible, I'll believe it till I die. Though the mountains be removed and cast into the sea. God's Word will live forever, through-out eternity.'

The Bible says: “My son, forget not My law, but let your heart keep My commandments: For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to you.” (Proverbs 3:1)

The third chapter of Proverbs is filled with remedies that cover our many needs. It is a trove of spiritual truth, knowledge and wisdom!

The Word of God heals and makes us well because it gives us Peace. Jesus who is the Word of God, declared: “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you; not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14: 27)

St. Paul stated: “And, having made peace through the Blood of His Cross, by Him to reconcile all things to Himself; by Him, I say, whether they be things, in earth, or things in Heaven.” (Col. 1:20)

What we all need is the Mercy of God which He dispenses freely to all who hide His Truth in their hearts, so that we will not sin against Him. Then, we will find favour and good understanding.

HEALTH TO OUR NAVELS!

The sixth verse speaks about the Lord leading us, as we acknowledge Him. Verses seven and eight deal with humility and divine healing through our Lord. When a baby is born the umbilical cord between it and the mother is cut off.

While the baby is in the mother’s womb it is fed through the umbilical cord attached the mother. When the baby is born the umbilical cord is discharged with the placenta and the mother feeds the baby through her breast.

The Word of God, “shall be Health to thy Navel, and Marrow to thy Bones.” (Prov.3:8). God feeds His children in the same way as the child is connected to its mother. What about the marrow of our bones? The Word of God looks after that as well!

GOD’S WORD HEALS BONES!

For the Word of God is quick and powerful, and sharper that any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of souls and spirit, and of the joints and marrow and is a discerner of the thoughts and contents of the heart.” (Heb. 4: 12)

The Word of God reaches into every area of our lives and heals our spirits, souls and our bodies! It heals our bones and the marrow in our bones!

Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase, So shall thy barns be good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that you mete withal it shall be measured to you again.” (Luke 6:38)

We are admonished not to be weary of His correction. For whom the Lord loves He corrects. We are to pursue wisdom and understanding. The wisdom referred to in the Proverbs was not carnal, earthly wisdom, even though the writer may not have realized it.

JESUS CHRIST IS WISDOM!

That no flesh should glory in His presence. But of Him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God are made unto us Wisdom, and Righteousness, and Sanctification and Redemption: That, according as it is written, He that glorieth let him glory in the Lord.” (1 Cor. 1:29-31)

Finding Wisdom is finding Christ! St. Paul declares: “For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.” (1 Cor. 3:19)

I pray daily for the mind of Christ and the power of God to liberate people from Satan’s power, unto God in Jesus’ name and through His shed blood! Amen.
