GETTING STIRRED FOR GOD By Pastor Max Solbrekken, D.D.
"Now while Paul waited for them at
Athens, his spirit was stirred, when he saw the
city wholly given to idolatry." (Acts 17:16)
If there ever was a time Christians need to be Stirred, it is now. Stirred to holy anger, righteous indignation, and missionary zeal! Stirred about the onslaught of the Evil One, in his "urgent campaign" to enslave billions of lost souls across the world!
Stirred about the scary rise of the deceptive New Age Movement and their subtle infiltration of our educational systems, governmental agencies, business corporations and churches!
Stirred about the complacency and acquiescence of an increasing number of spineless politicians and clergy - who in order to please constituents and parishioners - are caving in to unreasonable demands by abortionists, sodomites and lesbians!
Stirred about the sins of child abuse, incest and sexual molestation by authoritarian figures, parents, relatives, or family friends! And about the acceptance by many of suicide as a valid way out of depression, terminal illness and other unpleasant situations!
STIRRED ABOUT THE TRAGIC BREAK-UP OF MANY HOMES, THE SPIRALLING DIVORCE RATE, HIGH INCIDENCE OF ALCOHOL AND DRUG ABUSE, GAMBLING, VIOLENCE AMONG THE YOUTH!
Stirred by the awful carnage in our hospitals; the aborting of millions of unborn babies world-wide and in some cities, the jailing of "the rescuers" who are seeking to save these precious lives.
Stirred
about laws that jail someone for killing certain species of animals and birds,
while licensing medical doctors, who
are trained to save lives, to exterminate large numbers of unborn human babies
on a regular basis!
How tragic that Queen Elizabeth’s Representative bestowed the ‘Order of Canada’ - our nation’s
highest distinction - on the late abortionist Henry Morgentaler! That our Governor General would honour a
person who DISCRIMINATED against motherhood and unborn babies is a travesty!
The heart of our Heavenly Father must be
stirred to the "boiling point",
of unleashing upon this wicked world His unprecedented wrath and judgment,
because of these and other infamies!
Stirred enough to get off the "comfortable pew" to change the spiritual complexion of our communities, our cities, our nation, and our world ... to turn them from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God! (Acts 26:22)
Stirred
enough to warn this generation of coming judgment upon a world that has
rejected its Saviour and a Church that has become lukewarm, complacent and
uncaring!
Oh,
that God would burden our hearts to fast, pray and intercede for a lost world
that has "gone out of control"!
The Bible states: “If My
people which are called by My name shall HUMBLE themselves and PRAY and SEEK My face and TURN from their wicked ways, Then will I hear from
Heaven and I will forgive their sins and I will HEAL their land.” (2 Ch.7: 14)
There are four things that we must do if we are to see a ‘mighty revival and an outpouring of the Holy Spirit’: Humble ourselves, pray, seek God’s face and turn from our wicked ways!
God hates pride and He loves humility. Prayer is communing with our Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord! The only approach to God is through sincere, honest, determined prayer. To seek God’s face means to get to know our Heavenly Father and get close enough to Him to have intimate conversations with Him. Turning from our sins through repentance and faith, leads to a life of holiness and purity!
The Bible says: “Beloved, If our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward
God. And whatsoever we ask, we receive of Him, because we keep His
commandments, and do those things that are pleasing inn His sight.” (1 John
3: 21-22)
ST. PAUL saw the rampant
idolatry in Athens and his heart was
stirred within him, to do something about it! Immediately, he involved
himself in preaching the Gospel on Mars Hill at the Acropolis - across from the
Parthenon - to the learned men of Greece!
His
message was Jesus Christ and His resurrection.
He preached repentance and warned of coming judgment!
"...God now commandeth all men everywhere to repent: Because He hath appointed a day, in the which He will judge the world in righteousness by THAT MAN Whom He hath Ordained; whereof He hath given assurance unto all men, in that He raised Him from the dead." (Acts 7: 30-31)
Some scoffed but others said, "We will hear thee again of this matter". We also must become stirred enough to begin reading the Bible seriously, praying fervently and witnessing aggressively for our Blessed Lord Jesus!
WE NEED TO BE STIRRED SO GREATLY, THAT WE WILL GLADLY DEDICATE MORE OF OUR MATERIAL GOODS TO THE WORK OF THE MINISTRY. OUR MAJOR CONCERN SHOULD BE THE SOULS OFMEN AND THEIR ETERNAL DESTINY!
It's too late ‘in the game’ to expect things to turn around quickly, if we don't ‘go all out’ in this last and vital inning of the world's history!
Now
is the time to decide for Christ. Now is the time to dedicate ourselves
totally, without reservation to the task of winning our loved ones, neighbours
and friends to Him, before it is too late!
LET US PRAY: "Dear Heavenly Father,
by Thy great wisdom, power and grace please lead us in Thy perfect will, so
that we may reach key people for Thy Kingdom.
Be merciful O’ God and spare us all by sending a gracious revival to our
Land.
“Begin
in me O’ Lord; forgive and cleanse my spirit, soul, and mind. And heal my body
for Thy glory. I give myself to Thee, to be Thy servant and a channel through
which Thy great love and power will flow to others bringing strength and life
to all.
“I repent of my envy, pride, jealousy,
back-biting, gossiping, and lying! 'Not my will, but Thy will O God'. Fill
us all with unconditional love and holy compassion to reach our communities
with the Gospel of Christ.
“Fill us O’ Lord, with holy love, boldness, and compassion. Free us from all fear, timidity, and false humility, so that Thy Church may become militant for Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour.” In Jesus’ precious and Holy Name, I pray. Amen
