           CHRIST’S RETURN: ARE YOU READY?

Jesus promised in the Book of Revelation that He would return for His Church: “Behold, He cometh with clouds: and every eye shall see Him, and they also which pierced Him:

And all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of Him. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning, and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.” (Rev. 1:7.8)

He emphasized: “And behold I come quickly; and My reward is with Me, to give every man according as His work shall be.” (Rev. 22: 12) The word ‘quickly’ refers to a lively coming. Many Bibles use the word ‘soon’. Two translations render the word, “without delay” and “at once”.

Why has not our Lord Jesus Christ returned yet? There are two reasons:  First, God does not reckon time like we do. And secondly, He is gracious and compassionate, waiting for more precious souls to repent and come to Him!

The Bible says: “But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is long suffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3: 8, 9).

According to the reckoning of the Lord, He has been gone for less than two days, and that is not very long! That He will return is ‘a given’. It is definite and sure. His promise cannot fail! Jesus said: “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My words shall not pass away.” (Matt.24: 35).

JESUS WILL RETURN FOR HIS CHURCH

He said: “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto Myself; that where I am, ye may be also.” (John 14: 3). We have the eyewitness report of 500 people who saw Jesus ascend into Heaven from the Mount of Olives. And the message brought by two angelic beings who appeared to them:

“And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen Him go up.” (Acts 1: 10, 11)

St. Paul declared: “But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep (have died), that ye sorrow not, even as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep (die) in Jesus will God bring with Him.

“For this we say unto you by the Word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep, for the Lord shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

“Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air, and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.” (1 Thes. 4: 13-18)

HIS WORD IS INFALLIBLE!

You may ask: “How reliable are the Words of Jesus?”  His Word is infallible, inerrant, perfect, absolute, and concrete. It cannot fail, because He is the Word of God (John 1: 1-14) and He watches over His Word to perform it!

The Eternal God declares: “So shall My Word be that goeth out of My mouth: it shall not return unto Me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” (Is. 55: 11)

Here is a classic example of the inerrancy of God’s Holy Word. In Luke’s Gospel Jesus reveals His omniscience (total knowledge), while speaking of His Return (parousia, gr.).

Where did you think the word ‘science’ comes from? From the Omniscient One who is all-wise and all-knowing! It’s important that all scientists, philosophers, and theologians understand that!

“In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop…I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, the other left. Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.” (Luke 17: 31, 34-36)

Here, Jesus shared a little of His total knowledge with a ‘little-knowing people’. He ties it in with another truth so that as we humans discover more and more about His great creation, our little minds could at last grasp it!

What is He revealing that is so great? He is telling ‘earthlings’ exactly what the Holy Spirit had revealed through the prophet Isaiah more than 700 years earlier (1491–1451 B.C.) that God had created an earth that is spherical. That the earth is round!

 SCIENTISTS DISCOVERY (1520 A.D.) 3,000 YEARS LATER THAN ISAIAH!

Isaiah declared: “Have ye not known? Have ye not heard? … It is He (God) that sitteth upon the circleof the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain…” (Isaiah 40: 21-22) 

The word translated ‘circle’ is the Hebrew word ‘khug’ a more exact connotation of which is “sphericity” or “roundness”. It is also used in Proverbs 8: 27 where is says: “He set a compass upon the face of the deep”; literally – “He drew a circle upon the deep.” The same word here is translated ‘compass’ referring to the surface of the ocean taking on a spherical shape – so-called “sea-level” when God created it!

Jesus confirmed what the Prophet had declared about the earth He had created. (Heb.1: 2). Long before the ‘flat earth scientists’ discovered that the earth was spherical (round) the Creator was teaching that the earth is round!

Yet, some ignorant University professors - continually misinform their students that the Bible teaches that the earth is flat! Unfortunately, those professors have learned that from other professors who never read the Bible!

Jesus said: “In that day (His return) he which shall be upon the housetop … I tell you, in that night, there shall be two men in one bed…Two women shall be grinding together (during the day)… Two men shall be in the field (during the day …” (Luke 17: 31-36). When the rapture occurs, the Holy Spirit will gather His people from a round earth. Some will be working while on the other side of the earth others will be sleeping!

When it is midnight in Edmonton, Alberta it is 8:00 A.M. in Oslo, Norway. Can we trust God’s Word? A thousand times, “YES!” Our Lord warned: “Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of Man cometh.” (Matt.24: 44). His Word states: "Him that cometh unto Me, I will in no wise cast out.” I promise you that He has NEVER turned anyone away and He will take you in! 

THEREFORE, BE YE ALSO READY

He invites all SINNERS - including uninformed professors, ignorant,  Hollywood actors, hate-filled terrorists, pervert priests, compromising preachers, slimy pornographers, covetous gamblers, drug addicts, alcoholics, demon-possessed pedophiles, backsliders, wife beaters and lying cheaters, to bend their knees before His Majesty the Lord Jesus Christ in Repentance and Faith!

I guarantee that if you are sincere, Jesus Christ will come into your life and drive out the devil. You will become a new creation.  Then, as you seek His face, read His Holy Word, and pray diligently, He will baptize you with the Blessed Holy Spirit and you will be empowered to win precious souls for His Kingdom and pray for others to be freed from Satan and all his works and ways!

Dear Friend, receive Him into your heart and life and you will be Saved! Write me today and we will join with you in prayer for all the needs in your life and in your family.

He is nearer than you think. He alone is the Saviour of the world! Religious quacks, pagan gods and Eastern gurus cannot save you! Call upon the Living Lord Jesus Christ today.  Even so let it be Lord! Amen.

                        LOCKED IN WITH GOD

As believers in Christ we are locked in with God! We are members in particular of the Body of Christ, as well  as heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ! The Gospel of Christ is the only liberating power  available to mortal man for this life and throughout Eternity! Jesus Christ, true God from eternity          was incarnated as true man by His virgin birth! 

The Bible states, "For God so loved the world that He GAVE His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son to condemn the world but that the world through Him might be saved." (John 3: 16,17)

How amazing, great and wonderful to be connected with the Creator of the universe and to know His Son Jesus Christ our Saviour in this life, and Eternal Life with Him forever! Although the Lord is a God of Love who exercises great compassion, mercy and patience, He is also very strict and orderly and works according to a divine pattern and design. 

Let me explain; the Scripture tells us that God is love, (1 John 4:8) and yet the same Bible tells us that He is also a consuming fire. (Hebrews 12:29). Again the Bible speaks of God as a lawgiver, (Isaiah 32:22) who demands divine justice, and yet declares the beautiful fact that Jesus Christ brought grace into this world. (John 1:17)

The Holy Bible states that there are given to us great and precious promises that by these we might be partakers of the divine nature (II Peter 1:4).  The same Word of God that saves us and gives us eternal life (John 10:28), will be opened at the judgment and will condemn those who reject the Gospel of Christ. (Revelation 20:12) 

God has certain laws by which He operates and governs in the universe, as well as in heaven and upon earth. There are certain laws by which he saves or condemns.

THE LAWS OF GOD STILL EXIST

The same is true in the realm of physical healing. He said, “If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the Lord that healeth thee.” (Exodus 15:26)

God’s law states that if His people will serve and obey Him, He will heal and bless them. If they rebel against His word and break their covenant with Him, then His blessing and healing would depart and the curses which were reserved for the enemies of God would cleave unto them. 

When there is a vacuum created by God’s absence in a life, the Devil makes sure that he fills that vacuum and places his curse upon them. When God’s protection is lifted off a life, there is an open door for torment, death and destruction to enter.

The Bible says, “When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. Then he saith, I will return to my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the first state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.” (Matthew 12:43 – 45)

THE GOODNESS OF GOD TRULY AMAZES ME

How many times God has sustained us, protected us and stopped the devil from harming us I will never know, but I do know that, “The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.” (Psalms 34:7). “When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.” (Isaiah 59:19)

Even though hell is a literal burning place of torment, I believe the worst thing about it will be the Absence of God and the knowledge that these people will never again feel His sweet presence. Sickness and disease came into the world because of sin, and death followed as a result of sin. There were no sin, sickness, disease or death before the fall and there won’t be any after Satan is bound for 1,000 years during the millennium. (Revelation 20:2). Praise God!

The promise of God for His repentant, believing children as touching forgiveness and healing are numerous. Here are a few more; “And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved;” (Acts 2:21) “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest;” (Matthew 11:28) “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved;” (Mark 16:16) 

“Ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For everyone that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened;” (Matthew 7:7, 8)

COME NOW UNTO ME

“Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” (Isaiah 1:18). “Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father is in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake. 

"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.” (John 14:11 - 14)

“Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.” (James 5:14, 15)

I have shared with you mostly New Testament scriptures, now let me share with you this beautiful verse from the Old Testament taken from Solomon’s prayer during the dedication. “If there be dearth in the land, if there be pestilence, if there be blasting, or mildew, locusts, or caterpillars; if their enemies besiege them in the cities of their land;

WHATSOEVER SORE OR WHATSOEVER SICKNESS

"Then what prayer or what supplication soever shall be made of any man, or of all thy people Israel, when everyone shall know his own sore and his own grief, and shall spread forth his hands in this house: Then hear thou from heaven they dwelling place, and forgive, and render unto every man according unto all his ways, whose heart though knowest; (for thou only knowest the hearts of the children of men)” (2 Chronicles 6:28 – 30)

Does God Really Care? God’s laws work in every area of our lives. Those who believe in the name of Jesus, repentof their sins and confess Him as Lord are saved. Those who hunger and thirst after righteousness are filled. (Matthew 5:6).The baptism of the Holy Ghost comes to those who obey God and desire more of Him. (Acts 5:32)

Physical healing is much a part of our inheritance (last will and testimony of Jesus Christ) and as much a part of the atonement as the forgiveness of sins. The Holy Scripture state: “For he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: (healing for our spirits) the chastisement of our peace was upon him; (healing for our minds or souls) and with his stripes we are healed.” (healing for our bodies) (Isaiah 53:5)

GOD PROSPERS HIS PEOPLE!

“Beloved, I wish above all things…” John was writing by the Holy Spirit. John’s will here was God’s will… “that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” (3 John 2). John, the beloved Pastor, wanted many good things for his flock. (God wants us to receive many good things too).The three most important things however were;

 "Number one – That they would prosper, number two – be in health, number three – that their souls would prosper. The first and second blessings were contingent upon the third, “even as thy soul prospereth.”

According to the spiritual blessing we receive from Christ, will determine how much physical, mental and material blessing we will receive from Him. You may say, “I know of godly people who are sick and poor.” Godly people are not always rich in faith. Many people who lead good lives and trust Christ as Saviour may not have trusted Him as Healer for their bodies or  Baptizer in the Holy Ghost or Provider for their needs. You may ask why is this?

READ THE NEW TESTAMENT

1. Because they do not know the Scriptures. 2. Because they do not believe that God is interested in their little problems, e.g. cancer, arthritis, poverty. (Mainly because of wrong teaching – may God have mercy upon pastors who do not bring the truth of divine healing and God’s blessing to the people. Please read Ezekiel 34:2-5)

3. They underestimate God’s power. “Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.” (Matthew 22:29). 4. They do not appropriate the promises for themselves. It is always for those in Bible times or during the coming millennium, but not for today. They have the faith of Martha. “Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.” (John 11:24). Jesus said however, “I am the resurrection, and the life,” (John 11:25)

5. They believe God chastises His children with foul cancer, evil spirits of insanity and crippling arthritis. They further believe that they are receiving a great blessing from their sickness when the Bible calls disease a plague, (Mark 5:34) and a curse. (Deuteronomy 28).

God is a million times better than we are and yet we would never put a curse or disease on any of our children to make them better, chastise them or bring glory to ourselves. The preachers who preach this damnable heresy are blaspheming God and are charging Him with working with the devil and doing the work of evil spirits, the same as the Pharisees accused Jesus. (Mark 3:30)

6. They believe that they are suffering for God’s glory, yet they run to doctors, clinics and hospitals constantly. They have surgery and swallow innumerous pills to get rid of the blessing and deprive God of His glory, but they have no faith for healing through prayer.

7. They are poverty stricken because they feel that God’s people should be poor and humble. There are three ways to get rid of poverty. a. Get a job. b. Begin to give to God’s work. c. Believe that God will prosper you according to His word when you give in faith.

Now, notice that the Word of God says, there are three things that He wants for His people more than anything else He could desire for them (3 John 2) Number one, spiritual prosperity – repentance, faith, love and joy, the baptism of the Holy Ghost, the gifts of the Spirit, the fruits of the Spirit and a burden for souls with fasting and prayer.

Number two, as we prosper spiritually, we will also be in health as we accept the Word of God regarding divine healing. Number three, then as we work hard, give to God’s work in faith believing, we will prosper financially and materially. Praise God. 

The Bible states, “Honor the Lord with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.” (Proverbs 3:9, 10); “And ye shall serve the Lord your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.” (Exodus 23:25) 

Jesus said, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matthew 6:33). St. Paul wrote, “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19). God’s Law of Sowing and Reaping, of Planting and Harvesting, and of Caring and Sharing Is Still Valid and Works Today.

Jesus said, “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the! same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.” (Luke 6:38). Elijah said to the window woman, “but make me thereof a little cake first;” (I Kings 17:13) When she gave to God’s servant out of her need, God’s blessing came upon her unto life. (I Kings 17:15, 16) 

“Seek ye FIRST the kingdom of God; Give FIRST and it shall be given unto you; Honour the Lord with your substance and the FIRST FRUITS of all thine increase.” Recently we coined the phrase that speaks of this ministry, WE SHARE BECAUSE WE CARE. Caring means sharing. 

We as Christians do not really care unless we are willing to share with others. Let us share the Gospel of Christ with the heathen of this world so that they may learn of Jesus, believe on His name and live.

My Personal Testimony

In 1958, I was given a wonderful vision by the Lord – here it is: It was just after we had purchased our own first new car (before, I had driven company cars) and I had obtained a very good job earning several thousands of dollars a year more than I had been earning previously. 

My wife had just been converted to Christ and I was so happy for what God had done for me – as I lay in bed thinking about the goodness of God (my wife had already fallen asleep) suddenly I saw a vision. (whether I was asleep or not I cannot tell – I believe it was what the Bible calls a NIGHT VISION)

I saw a large silver tray with a very large bowl sitting in the middle of it. Then, as I continued watching I saw a clear, pure liquid resembling water, being poured into the bowl from up above and entering the bowl from every angle. I watched as the bowl filled up and I wondered if it would stop, but it kept on coming – over-flowing the bowl and filling the platter – I wondered “Would it stop then?” but as I looked I noticed it kept on coming and overflowed the platter. 

Then I heard a voice say, “Give and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom.” I knew it was the voice of God and immediately I was wide awake – I knew God had spoken to me and that He was with me and that I would prosper. Ever since then God  has blessed me.

When I was a commercial traveler, God helped me to always be one of the top salesmen and many times in the lead. When I left my well-paying lucrative position, I still had the blessing of God. The Lord has helped me, led me and guided me, so that tens of thousands of souls have been brought to Christ through our ministry, and great numbers have received miracles of healing and deliverance through our prayers.

Our ministry is now reaching many parts of the world and gaining strength, impact and prominence among many people as the years come and go. Our belief is that God has called me supernaturally by His Spirit and has a specific job for me to do which will yet take us into many more parts of the world.

SEVEN REASONS WHY GOD WANTS TO BLESS US

1. Because of His great love for mankind and especially for His children. (Matthew 15:26; 3 John 2)

2. Because of His word which He will fulfill and His promises which He is duty bound to keep. (Luke 6:38)

3. Because of a definite law, both spiritual and physical which states, “You will reap what you sow, and the harvest will be greater than the seed planted.” (Genesis 8:22; Galatians 6:7, 8)

4. Because we are His children and therefore, we are His responsibility. He wants us to have the best and since we are His advertising agents, I am sure that He wants to show the world that His gospel can accomplish and do in the lives of men. We are proof that the benefits of Calvary really work.

I am equally sure that He would not want to show off to the world an ignorant weak, foolish, unsuccessful, fearful, discouraged, sick, sinful, mentally ill and poverty ridden people. He certainly has the power to bless His people to the extent that we can represent Him properly. (Malachi 3:17; Philippians 4:19)

5. Because of the testimony of the Scriptures in the lives of men of God in times past. a. Abraham: “And I will make thy seed as the dust od the earth: so that if aman could number the dust od the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered.” (Genesis 13:16)

b. Job: “So the Lord blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning ---So Job died being old and full of days.” (Job 42:12-17). c. Solomon: “That the Lord appeared unto Solomon…I have heard thy prayer and thy supplication, the thou hast made before Me, I have hallowed this house…” (I Kings 9:3-5)

d. Daniel: “… That in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel…He delivereth and rescueth, and He worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions….so this Daniel prospered…” (Daniel 3:1 to 30: 6:1 to 28;)

6. Because God has never changed, and we have proven His word to be true again and again when we give in faith. In my own life I have proven God honours our faith, answers our prayers and fulfills His word. Thousands of people have proven the same thing too!

7. Because our Heavenly Father has promised to honour those who love and serve His Son Jesus Christ.

“If any man serve Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there will My servant be: If any man serve Me, him will My Father honour.” (John 12:26) Amen.

8. Because God wants His people to prosper so that they can use their money to help the poor and reach the lost with the glorious gospel of Christ before it is too late. Please note “the scripture cannot be broken.” (John 10:35) Whatever Jesus said will come to pass. 

The laws of God are absolute and what you sow you will reap. When you give to God, there will be a return far greater than what you give. God is not a respector of persons and God is no man’s debtor.

In closing let me give you this Scripture, “No good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.” (Psalms 84:11) And again, “But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully… for God loveth a cheerful giver.” (II Corinthians 9:6, 7).

Dear Friends in Jesus Christ,

Donna and I wish to thank you for your kindness and help during this past year and earlier; some for many years! It is hard to believe that sixty years ago in 1963, we launched the world-wide Ministry for Christ, in which we are still very active!

My father’s instant healing in 1956 while listening to Oral Robert’s radio broadcast, and sudden baptism in the Holy Ghost while singing a hymn, made an impact upon me.  I had drifted from God since my confirmation at age 15 in the Evangelical Lutheran Church and I was beginning to seriously think about God again!

In 1957, while Donna and I were visiting my parents in Norquay, Saskatchewan, I experienced Christ’s forgiveness, and received the Baptism of the Holy Ghost with speaking in unknown tongues. My life was forever changed. Some time later Donna was also born again and filled with the blessed Holy Ghost.

As early as 1958 I was sharing Christ on my business trips and in 1961, I began broadcasting over several Radio stations with much success. Some wonderful miracles of salvation and divine healing were happening, which greatly encouraged me and for that I am eternally thankful!

GOD SPOKE TO ME FROM THE BIBLE!

Early in 1963 God spoke to me from Acts 6: 2-4: “Then the twelve called the multitudes of the disciples unto them and said, It is not reason that we should leave the Word of God and serve tables… But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the Word.”

My time of serving tables was fulfilled.  I knew God had called me to the Ministry. I worked as a Commercial Traveller and used my available time studying God’s Word with fasting and prayer. Wanting to be certain, I asked God for another six months to wrap up my business, find a replacement and train him.

In August 1963, we launched into the Evangelical Field to proclaim Jesus Christ as the Light of the world and the only Hope of Salvation!

Donna and I had built a new home in Prince George, where we lived for 6 years. I was in a crusade in Kent, Washington in December 1963. Our good friends, the Hunters pastored White Rock Pentecostal Church. They had inquired about a 3-bedroom house for rent. The Assembly of God in Kent were having a wedding on the Saturday allowing me to drive down to White Rock that afternoon.

The Hunters stated that there had not been a three-bedroom house for rent for the last 90 days. As I was driving up Johnson Road, I saw Wolstencroft Realty lights and God urged me to stop there. It was 15 minutes to closing time. I parked and walked inside. A gentleman met me. I asked, “Do you have a 3-bedroom home for rent?”

He said that there hadn’t been any for three months, but that a man had been there 30 minutes earlier and put his house for rent. He lived in Prince George and had bought a new vehicle and had taken it for a spin and would be back in 10 minutes. I asked, “What is his name?” He answered, “His name is Ernie James.” I said, “I know where he lives in Prince George because we are neighbours!”  We rented his house for three months and then we made a deal to exchange homes!

 MY HEAVIEST CROSS!

Years ago, I began writing my story called, ‘My Heaviest Cross’ and this is some of it! Leaving my beautiful wife Donna and our precious children for long periods of time while I preached Christ’s Gospel has been my ‘Heaviest Cross.”  Thomas Tutyko and I were away from home for 3 ½ months in 1966. We had great crusades from Japan to the Philippines and India. Thousands of souls were saved, and great miracles performed in Jesus’ name. We had the company of one another, which was a great blessing!

I have travelled in Crusades for weeks and months labouring for the Master. Watching the news these days and seeing the awful carnage in Ukraine by the wicked Russian Military, I can remember the cities where I preached across Eastern Europe from 1989 to 2005. We had such great blessings especially in the Ukraine, many of those cities now lie in ruin!

HIGH COST OF PREACHING THE GOSPEL!

A few weeks ago, Donna and I were discussing the high cost of preaching the Gospel. We know that Jesus paid the price for our salvation when He died for our sins, fears, loneliness, sickness, and disease. And by His stripes we are healed and have been given power over the devil in Jesus’ holy and matchless Name!

Donna said, “Of the many times the children and I took you to the Vancouver International Airport, the children and I were so sad, and I said in my heart, “If only we had one more night together!” I asked, “Do you really need to leave today?” Then suddenly you said, “I’m not leaving tonight. I’ll call them that I have been delayed” and you swung the car around and headed Home. That was the happiest night I had. After that, it was okay.”

Donna remembered the time I had said goodbye to her and the children at the Airport, with the keys to our car in my pocket. Donna ran out to the exit gate shouting, “My husband has the automobile keys in his pocket. Stop that airplane. I have four children here and no keys to our vehicle.” Fortunately, they got word out to the airplane, and I was able to give them the car keys, and my precious family were on their way safely home! Whenever I was at home and we could travel in the vehicle, we took the whole family!

I CALLED KEN MY SHADOW!

Ken travelled with me a lot, even while I was still a Commercial Traveller. I would introduce him to my customers. I called him my shadow. He was 3 ½ years old when I preached a three-week Revival at the Langley Pentecostal Church with Pastor Erhardt. Ken and I lived in the Attic where a bed had been set up amidst a lot of other things.

When I made the altar call and people would kneel at the altar, I would come down and lay my hands on their heads and pray. Ken followed me and did the same. Then when I felt my ministry was over and people continued praying, I would lay my hands on Ken’s head and pray for Him before carrying him up to the Attic. One night there was a large crowd and after much prayer, I took Ken with me and was getting into bed. Suddenly, he said, “Dad, you didn’t pray for me tonight!” I sensed the presence of God upon him and asked, “Do you want to give your heart to Jesus tonight, son?” He said, “Yes, Dad.” We knelt in that little attic at the Langley Pentecostal Church and my son Ken gave his heart to the Lord.”

GREAT REVIVAL AMONG THE NATIVES!

Every five weeks I would work my way west calling on every Grocery Store and Logging Camp, and I would usually be in Hazelton or Prince Rupert for the weekend. Pastor Jack and Irma Williams were doing an amazing work in the about four or five Indian Reserves. They would ask me to speak and we would have great outpourings of the Holy Spirit among them as God did miracles of deliverance and healings for His glory.

Billy and Cynthia Leggette of the Prince Rupert Pentecostal Church were excellent musicians and pastors. I had preached in their church several times.

In the summer of 1962, Donna and I used our vacation to preach in Edmonton, and Billy Legette joined us. He was a professional violinist and great song leader. That 10-day crusade reached many people and 95 answered the altar call for salvation and many testified that Jesus had healed them. Nine young men from the Roman Catholic Seminary went forward for prayer!

Ten Seminarians from St. Joseph’s Seminary in St. Albert, Alberta came to the meeting to openly challenge me about statements I had made about the false teachings of the Papacy and the Roman Catholic Church. They made their plans known to our Head usher, who did not divulge it to me.

As Billy Leggette and I walked onto the platform, I heard the voice of the Holy Spirit say to me, “Give the Pope a rest tonight, son!” I delivered a powerful message on the Cross of Christ! The Altar was filled and among them were nine Seminarians. After prayer at the Altarm they asked for an personal audience with me. They all thanked me for the message and confessed that had received Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour!

THE OLD ARMY TENT!

In 1963, we bought an old Army Tent, Semi and Trailer for $2,000. Brother Casperson, a Norwegian Fisherman kiving in New Westminster gave us the money to buy that tent to preach Christ and liberate multitudes of people in the next two years across Western Canada. The Press always gave us good coverage because they realized we practiced what we preached, and the miracles God performed were genuine!

It was exciting for five-year-old Ken and meyself driving that old rig across the Pattullo Bridge in New Westminster, B.C. We took a right turn and drove the winding Old Yale Road bypassing Surrey, toward White Rock. Our good friend T.B. Nash, a sign painter who was staying with us, painted in large red letters across the long trailer, ‘Jesus Saves, Heals & Fills with the Holy Ghost’.  

Together with Don Gossett we put up the tent in Surrey, B.C. in early 1964, with great success. Our second Crusade was in Edmonton where 14 churches backed our ministry, and hundreds were converted to Christ. Then on to Winnipeg and Steinbach and other points! The old Army Tent was held up by three 45-foot-high telephone poles, and transported by an old Chevy three-ton tractor. By God's grace we saw a lot of action for our Saviour in that old Armt Tent!

And because I was young and strong and had earlier learned hard work on the farm, I could swing the heavy Sledgehammer to drive in hundreds of long wooden anchor stakes. Everywhere we set up the tent, we often had great help from local believers. Bob Rosin, my great friend who was a farmer and former long-haul Trucker found time to transport our outfit from city to city. And usually, my precious little Kenny was my constant companion!

I hadn’t planned to write all this, but Donna’s comments brought me to tears and the book I have always planned to write has just got a rough beginning! A blessed and joyous Christmas to all our friends from Donna and me! Amen.

THE PRAYER CLOTH

For years we sent out prayer cloths to people who requested them, and the results were amazing. Testimonies of great miracle healings happened to some people who used them in faith, and prayed in agreement with us in Jesus’ name!

The Bible says: “And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul: So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.” (Acts 19: 11,12)

God laid it on my heart to send a prayer cloth over which we have prayed, for you to use in agreement with us for God’s healing touch upon you, for His honour and glory! Please request as many prayer cloths an you can prayerfully us when you write!

P.S.   In 1989, I had the privilege of preaching in Romania and Ukraine. The doors had opened across Eastern Europe and thousands of people were attending. Although I loved being the pastor of Faith Cathedral Edmonton, God was drawing me to Eastern Europe. Donna and I were ministering in Norway when we discussed what I was feeling in my spirit. On July 21, 1989, God spoke these words to me:

“My son, your ministry will be greater from now onward that hitherto. Take My Word to Eastern Europe now!” Ken helped us organize together with Pastor Laurie Hueppleshizer to amalgamate Faith Cathedral and People’s Church as one body under their leadership. The official amalgamation took place on October 27, 1991.                                                                                                               

Amazingly, the Edmonton Revival Centre that became Faith Cathedral was officially opened on October 27, 1969.

                        I DON'T KNOW & I DON'T CARE!

A journalist on the streets of a U.S. city asked several people: "What are the two greatest problems we face in our country today?" Finally, a young man answered, "I don't know, and I don't care!" Immediately, the Journalist had the subject for his daily radio talk show. He answered: “Youve got that right: I don’t know, and I don’t care!”

Many are unaware of the problems in our nation and don’t care! Politicians should listen to their constituents and pass righteous laws. Marxist leaning politicians have changed our nation through the legalization of dangerous drugs and promoting child - destroying laws.

We must vote for a moral leader like Stephen Harper, who made Canada debt free, with 10 billion dollars in the bank. After 8 years of the present scandalous Liberal Administration, Canada is now debt- ridden!

The Canadian Taxpayers Federation claims that the clock and Canada’s federal debt are growing by $878 per second, which is $52,701 per minute, $3.1 million per hour, or $75.9 million every single day. The debt clock is currently over $713 billion, and Canada’s federal debt continues to grow daily.

Preachers must seek God for wisdom to deliver His Word. A Pastor is a shepherd operating in the power of the Holy Spirit and following the Word of God to bring hope and healing to wounded souls, and comfort to those who mourn. Intense prayer and supplication and studying the Bible will widen our vision to see beyond our needs to that of others!

Parents must always watch over and supervise their children. The devil constantly seeks to destroy their young lives with drugs or perversion! The Bible says: Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6). We must spend time with our children and give them sound advice with much love and caring!

SATAN IS THE ENEMY!

The Bible states: “Casting all your cares upon Him; for He careth for you. Be sober, be vigilant: because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: whom Resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.” (1 Peter 5:7-9)

We live in a very troubled world, and many don’t want to be involved in solving someone else’s problems! As Christians we must stand for righteousness, compassion, salvation, and deliverance, through the Blood of Christ and His glorious resurrection from the dead!

We must acknowledge the awful carnage SATAN has brought upon the world and the destructive harvest of a sinful life. We must declare war against all evil and unrighteousness and the ongoing wickedness the Prince of Darkness has unleased upon the earth! When we fully understand the evil of SIN and his sinister motives and operation, we are armed with Truth!

The Bible states: “Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither His ear heavy that it cannot hear, but your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid His face from you that He will not hear;

Knowledge, however, is vitally important for anyone seeking to help others who are in trouble! For believers in Christ, it is necessary to seek God for His help to understand the need and to bring His liberation to the many who are bound by Satan, the enemy of God and man.

IF MY PEOPLE SHALL PRAY!

“If My people, which are called by My Name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from Heaven, and will forgive their sins, and will heal their land.” (2 Chron. 7:14).

Heartfelt, believing prayer is necessary to reach Heaven on behalf of lost souls in our city or area! He that never slumbers nor sleeps waits for our cry for help. He said: “Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the Most High: And call upon Me in the day of trouble, and I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.” (Ps. 50: 14,15)

“Wherefore He is ABLE to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him, seeing He ever liveth to make intercession for them. For such an High Priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens.” Heb. 7:25, 26).

Jesus Christ invites us all to fellowship with Him through the Word of God and the Holy Spirit: “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock; if any man hear My voice, and open the door, I will come into him, and will sup with him, and he with Me.” (Rev.3:20).

More than half of Canadians aged 15 and older are drinking more than recommended, Researcher say!

Moreover, another study published in JAMA Network on July 28 found that the number of women dying from alcohol-related conditions is on the rise. Researchers found that from 2018 to 2020, women’s alcohol-attributed mortality rate increased by 14.7 percent per year while the rate among men increased by 12.5 percent.

THE GREAT PHYSICIAN WAITS FOR YOUR CALL!

This year in Alberta, there have already been 596 deaths from drug overdoses, an increase of chlamydia, and 273 cases of syphilis! Is there no remedy? Is there no doctor in the house? Of course, Jesus the great physician stands ready to save and heal! We can call someone, invite someone, and pray for someone!

Christ’s sacrifice on the Cross for us, provides the solution to the many needs of humanity! SIN is mankind’s greatest problem. The Bible states: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” (Rom.3:3); “For the Wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ is Lord.” (Rom. 6:23)

The Bible states: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world but that the world through Him might be saved.

“He that believeth on Him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. He that believeth on the Son of God hath Everlasting Life.” (John 3:16, 17, 36).

THE RECORD THAT GAVE OF HIS SON!

“If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater; for this is the witness of God which He hath testified of His Son. He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that beliveth not God hath made Him a liar, because he believeth not the RECORD that God gave of His Son.

“He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have Eternal Life, and that ye may believe on the Name of the Son of God.

“And this is the confidence that ye have in Him, that if we ASK any thing according to His will, He heareth us: And if we KNOW that He hear us, whatsoever we ask, we KNOW that we have the petitions that we desired of Him.” (1 John 5: 9-15)

HOLY SPIRIT GIVEN TO REPROVE THE WORLD!

Jesus promised to give us the Holy Spirit: “Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send Him unto you. And when He is come, He will reprove the world of Sin, and of Righteousness, and of Judgment.

“Of Sin, because they believe not on Me: Of  Righteousness, because I go unto My Father, and ye see Me no more; Of Judgment, because the prince of this world is Judged. I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot hear them now.

“Howbeit when He, the Spirit of Truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak; and He will shew you things to come.

“He shall glorify Me; for He shall receive of Mine and shall show it unto you. All things that the Father hath are Mine, therefore said I, that He shall take of Mine, and shall shew it unto you.” (John 16: 7-14)

“Now the God of peace that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the BLOOD of the Everlasting Covenant; Make you perfect in every good work to do His will, working in you that which is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ; to Whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. (Heb. 13: 20,21)

 Let us pray: Heavenly Father, I receive your offer of mercy, forgiveness, and eternal Life, through Jesus Christ’s substitutional death and resurrection for me. Come into my heart, Lord Jesus! Amen.

O’ LORD, REVIVE US AGAIN

 For years, pundits from the religious world as well as those from the press, have written about the phenomena called variously ‘A Religious Awakening’ or ‘Revival in the Church’.

The Bible says, "Wilt thou not Revive us again: that Thy people may rejoice in Thee? Show us Thy mercy, O Lord and grant us Thy Salvation." (Psalm 85: 6, 7)

The most vital thing we need in Canada and elsewhere in this 'Midnight Hour', is a return to Jesus Christ and the Holy Bible! And that, necessitates a deep conviction of SIN and sorrow for our cavalier and insulting attitude toward our Lord and His Word!

Repentance toward God and Faith in our Lord Jesus Christ are the two pillars of the Christian Faith. They are necessary for receiving His forgiveness, peace, and the assurance of eternal salvation! Without repentance there is no saving faith and without faith there is no salvation.

The Bible says: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: It is the gift of God; not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Eph. 2:8, 9)

“And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men to Repent: Because He hath appointed a day, in which He will judge the world in righteousness by that Man whom He hath ordained; whereof He hath given assurance unto all men, in that He hath raised him from the dead." (Acts 17: 30, 31)

"Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, Repentance toward God, and Faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ." (Acts 20: 21)

Before his death in an alleged terrorist plane crash in 1956, Dag Hammarskjold, the First Secretary General of the United Nations and a Swedish diplomat stated: "Unless the world in the very near future returns to the old time Evangelical Religion it is irredeemably lost."

PRAYER IS ANOTHER KEY!

Here is another powerful Key to Revival: "A prayer of Habakkuk, the prophet upon Shigionoth. O Lord, I have heard Thy Speech, and was afraid: O Lord REVIVE Thy Work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy." (Habakkuk 3: 12)

The prophet was concerned about Israel and His people. While in prayer God warned him about coming judgment upon His people because of their sinfulness. The prophet was afraid and cried out for mercy. He asked for a revival of righteousness. Instead of judgment he craved a spiritual awakening. And he wanted it immediately in the midst of the years!

He was saying, “O Lord, don’t wait until it is too late. Make Yourself known to us while there is still mercy to be had. And if You must judge us, O Lord, in Your great WRATH, please show mercy!

The Bible gives us the key: “If My people which are called by My people shall humble themselves and PRAY, and seek My

 face, and turn from their wicked way, then will I hear from Heaven and forgive their sins and heal their land.” (2 Chron.7:14).

REPENTANCE, PRAYER, SEEKING GOD, FORSAKING SINS

There are four things we must do if we are to see a gracious REVIVAL. They are,  Repentance, Prayer, Seeking God, and Forsaking Sins. We call this verse, 'The Blueprint for Revival'. When God's people are willing to repent, pray and seek God's face in sincerity and faith and forsake their sins, He is ready and willing to forgive, receive us and fill us with His Holy Spirit and bless our land!

Rev. Charles Spurgeon was a powerful Baptist preacher in London, England in the 19 th Century. He pastored a large church seating several thousand people. One day a group of Ministers came to visit his great Church. They wanted to know the source of his spiritual power. Spurgeon took them to the basement of the church and opened the door to a room with 300 praying parishioners. He said, “Gentlemen, this is the source of my power!”

Nothing could stop the early Church apostles, disciples, deacons, and other believers. They refused to compromise! They counted it a joy to be persecuted for Jesus’ sake. Here is their defense: 

“And when they had set them in the midst, they asked: By what power, or by what name, have ye done this?  Then Peter filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and the elders of Israel,  

“If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole: Be it known unto you all. And to the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, Who God raised Him from the dead, even by Him doth this man stand here before you whole.

“This is the stone which was set at naught of you builders, which is become the Head of the Corner (Chief Corner Stone). Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under Heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (Acts 4: 7-12)

The Early Church leaders were so filled with God’s power and holy boldness that the Jewish Sanhedrin were taken aback when they witnessed the miracles performed under their hands, in Jesus’ name. They beat them, imprisoned them and warned them not to spread the Good News about Jesus the crucified and risen SAVIOUR around Jerusalem, however the disciples said: 

“Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.” (Acts 4: 19, 20)  

MIRACLES WAS ANOTHER KEY!

“And by the hands of the apostles were many Signs and Wonders wrought among the people…And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women. Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of peter passing by might overshadow some of them.

“There came also a multitude out of the cities round about Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed everyone.” (Acts 5: 12-16)

Here is another KEY to Revival. After they had been warned repeatedly that they MUST NOT use the name of Jesus of Nazareth anymore in preaching or praying, they rejected their commands and became even more engaged in spreading Jesus’ gospel!

“And being let go, they went to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto them. And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice with one accord, and said, Lord, Thou art God, which made Heaven and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is: Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast  said, Why did the heathen rage…

“And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto Thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak Thy Word, by stretching forth Thine hand to HEAL; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of Thy holy child JESUS. And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spoke the Word of God with boldness.” (Acts 4: 23-31)

The Holy Record shows that these men of God didn’t buckle or cave in, to the demands of God’s enemies but stood firm and true to the commands of Jesus the Head of the Church, and were led constantly by the blessed Holy Spirit.

They prayed for more miracles, not less! The modern church of today believes for less miracles in total opposition to the commands of Jesus, the ability of the Holy Spirit to produce those miracles in Jesus’ name and the example of the Early Church. 

I stand with Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, the Word of God in opposition to the weakling compromisers of today who are making the Word of God of none effect by their refusal to obey God rather than man! Amen.

 REACHING OUT TO A DYING WORLD

JESUS! His Name means, ‘The Salvation of God’. The salvation of God is forgiveness of sins, healing for wounded spirits, tormented minds, and broken bodies. It is eternal Life. The prophet Esaiah stated: “He was wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement of our peace was upon Him and with His STRIPES we are healed.” (Is. 53:4,5)

When we speak the Name of Jesus we are in fact saying, ‘In the name of the God who Saves, the God who Heals, the God who Protects us, delivers us and makes us well, receive His blessing and be healed’. 

Mary Ann Kidder (1820-1905) was a poet who wrote the powerful hymn, ‘Is My  Name written there?’ It is one of my favourites. May it touch your heart also:

IS MY NAME WRITTEN THERE?

Lord, I care not for riches, neither silver nor gold;
I would make sure of heaven, I would enter the fold.
In the book of Thy kingdom with its pages so fair,
Tell me, Jesus, my Savior, is my name written there?

Refrain:
Is my name written there
On the page white and fair?
In the book of Thy kingdom,
Is my name written there?

Yes, my name’s written there. On the page white and fair;

CHRIST'S HIGH PRIESTLY PRAYER

In His High Priestly Prayer Jesus prayed, "All things are delivered unto Me of My Father, and no man knoweth the Son but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal Him.

"Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me for I am meek and lowly in heart;  For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." Matt. 11:28-30). 

Whoever  is yoked with Satan is fettered by his evil power, and carries the heavy load of deception, fear, torment, hatred and perversity. On the contrary, anyone yoked with Jesus Christ is blessed with forgiveness, divine healing, peace, joy and eternal life! Jesus our Lord is the Heavy Lifter. He carries the heavy load! 

The Bible states, "He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose, the Son of God was manifested, that He  might destroy the works of the devil." (1 John 3:8). Amen.

Jesus still calls us: "Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear My voice, and open the door, I will come in to Him, and will sup with Him, and he with Me." (Rev. 3:20) He is referring to us all personally. He invites you to open the door of your heart and let Him come. Will you do it, my friend?
